I still remember the first time I ever heard HMHSY and to this day I crank up the volume when I hear it. Fortunately Sirius XM radio considers it worthy of frequent airplay. I know that Motown had other priorities and maybe even more artists than they needed during that mid 60s explosion, but how in the world did they fail to recognize the sheer majesty of that song and not push it to the very limits? 1966 was a phenomenal year for Motown and I would put this one probably at the top of the list. Even though Bonnie's version was a deserved hit a few years later, this is still the definitive version of an absolutely awesome song.
