Jimmy Ruffin UK Fan Club

I was reading in the story on Soul In Print by Sharon Davis which told about after the TMAS organization folded that individual fan clubs replaced the Tamla Motown Appreciation Society.  She mentioned five groups that had fan clubs in their honor.  A Phil and Pete ran the Jimmy Ruffin Fan Club.  Sharon Davis ran the Four Tops; Lynne & Jackie ran the Temptations; Gerry ran the Marvin Gaye; and Mick and Ray ran the Martha Reeves & Vandellas.  [I do not know if Mick is Mick Patrick?].

I would really love to see a copy of one of the fan club bulletins for Jimmy Ruffin.  Does anyone have one of these that they could scan into a response for me to see?  I would really appreciate it very much.

I was a member of the Four Tops fan club run by Karen Spreadbury ( aka Sharon Davis).
I was aware that other clubs were available but it was early in my Motown discovery.
I have read that Motown wanted individual artists fan club rather than a "corporate" club. I don't know why that would be the case.
I do recall my Father being suspicious about the magazine....perhaps just being cautious about what I was up to?

Regarding Jimmy Ruffin, he did well to have that level of recognition.

Thank you for responding.  These fan club bulletins are priceless and should readily be available for viewing today. 

Jimmy is a unique Motown artist, he actually moved to the UK where much to your advantage he was far more popular over there than here in his later days.  He did move back to the USA and passed in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I only hope we are able to resurrect some of these fan club bulletins.  We might learn something we don't know, don't you agree?

Hi Bill. I agree that these bulletins would be a source of valuable information. The only person that I know who may have copies/info about them is our Eric who is sadly indisposed and is no longer active on MT. However I will email him post any response.

 Of course things went full circle , when the closure of the TMAS resulted in individual fan clubs.
These clubs then merged to become " Motown Ad Astra".ran by Sharon Davis.
