John, I really don't know how to address your matter. I am in the same boat as Roger is. I prefer as many members do the ease and comfort of a CD vs. vinyl. I personally started out many years ago collecting vinyl of which I have way more than I need. With the advent of CDs, I started collecting these and rarely buy any vinyl unless it is something that is missing from my earlier collection. Unfortunately the ones I need are not reasonably priced. Part of the problem with the vinyl I have acquired is that I have all of the Complete Motown Singles which is essentially duplicate effort from the vinyl in my collection.
I as probably many others are am not an overwhelming Barbara McNair fan. She is in an entirely different category than the superstars of Motown, i. e. Supremes, Temptations, Four Tops, Miracles, Isley Brothers, etc. I have exactly 4 Barbara McNair singles in my collection but they haven't been played in many years, if ever. I never recall hearing any of her songs on the broadcast airwaves. I am not opposed to her, but she is not someone I would put a priority upon to listen to. In fact if I would hear any of her singles, I probably would not be able to say who sang the song.
You have done an extraordinary job with the forum that you created. Yours in my opinion is way superior to the Soulful Detroit forum. The way it is laid out and the ease of using is awesome.
As discussed earlier in responses to your initial posting, a lot of the blame lies with Universal. There was a time when Harry came out and made big announcements about upcoming releases, etc. but those were the days. I never hear anything about him and it seems as though he has vanished into thin air. There is quite a legacy behind him and it is a doggone shame in my opinion.
I am hoping that whenever the new Motown Museum is officially rededicated in its entirety things might take a turn for the better.
I am guilty as others for not utilizing the MT more than I do. I will attempt to do better. But don't drop the forum, it serves a worthwhile purpose. You are appreciated very much. Your care and attention to the forum is what makes it great.
