Tamla Motown Martha & Vandellas Early Classic wanted
« on: June 29, 2022, 12:50:33 pm »
I have tried many ways to obtain the Tamla Motown Early Classics version of the Martha & the Vandellas which was released back in 1996.  The problem I am facing is that I want to obtain the CD that has the scan of the group on it.  I have attempted through discogs to locate this one but it seems as though every one available [some sellers do not respond] does NOT have the scan on as all the others in the series.  I have seen the actual CD in all silver with no scan on and also a red version with no scan on.  I do not need the jewel case or the printed insert, just the CD with the groups picture on it.

If anyone has this and is interested in selling or swapping for something I might have that they are interested in, please contact me at explorereph@aol.com.  Thank you for any help you can give me.

Bill

Hallo Bill,
Could this be the cd you're looking for?
I wonder why it is so special to you.

Henk:  Yes that is the one I am hoping to get.  The reason I want it is because I will then have the entire collection of these TM Early Classics with the groups picture on the CD.  I am unaware of few others that use this practice of putting the artist/groups photo on the actual CD.  I think that is really attractive.  And furthermore the sound quality on these releases is outstanding and really great.

You may have given me a good lead.  The picture you showed showed Made in Germany.  I was under the mistaken assumption that they were all Motown UK releases and I never pursued any that were for sale in Germany.  Thank you very very much for this good lead.  I appreciate it.

The entry on 45Worlds for this release does have the "picture disc" and is indeed "made in Germany", though I believe it was also on sale in The UK.

Funnily on Discogs their entry for the same release has the boring silver disc and has "Made In The EEC" on the disc.

Personally I've never owned this CD so I can't help.

What baffles me to no end is the fact that if I click on every one on Discogs that is for sale, they all show the silver disc.  Not being an expert on the Discogs system, I assume that they seller just takes the stock pictures and runs with them.  As a result some of them might have the picture on vs the silver disc.  I try to inquire of each of the sellers; some respond and some don't.

If you have the CD without the 'picture' disc, and it is the same quailty, I will swap with you. I' m only concerned with the sound quality.
