Rainy Mourning

'Rainy Mourning' was the 'b' side of 'That's How Heartaches Are Made' which peaked at #97 and was their final hit. Both sides are from 'In Full Bloom' which is my all time fav Motown album. I think that 'Mourning' should have been the 'a' side as it was a new song in comparison to 'Heartaches'.

Nice video ... slow-motion Marvelettes when at their peak of popularity ... does it come better than that? 

I've always liked "Rainy Mourning", though whether it would've made a better "A" side than "Heartaches" is open to debate.  Neither came out as 45s in The UK of course, where Tamla-Motown seemed to have given up on the group after the failure of "Reaching For Something I Can't Have" to chart earlier in '69 ... (they must have had high hopes for "Reaching" as it was plugged like crazy on Radio Luxembourg).

Incidentally "Heartaches" reached the heady heights of #81 on the CashBox US "Pop" chart.   ;D
