I discovered this soundtrack years ago by watching the movie--and then realizing it was Gladys Knight and The Pips! There's a lot on there to enjoy and Curtis Mayfield and GK&TP made for a good connection!

I'm sure I've heard JazzFM play "The Makings Of You" a few times over the years.   :)

Yes, the whole "Claudine" soundtrack LP is great, though I never had a copy until it came out as a CD sometime in The '90s.

I did buy their "On & On" 45 when it was released in The UK back in '74 ... it was a huge hit in the US but never charted here.  I suppose the best known track off the LP in The UK must be "Make Yours A Happy Home", which was a minor chart hit in '76.

Aha!!

The version of "The Makings Of You" that I've definitely heard on JazzFM a few times has to be the original version by Curtis Mayfield (as posted by Mr Snakepit).
