Oh Little Boy (What Did You Do To Me)
« on: May 05, 2025, 10:26:55 am »
'Oh Little Boy (What Did You Do To Me)' is the 'b' side of 'My Guy' and I have always much preferred it. Mary's vocals are amazing especially when she sings those high notes. Oh Mary, why did you leave Motown when you were already Queen! The other man's grass is not greener, just a different shade! Even Diana found that out!

Interesting to hear the contrast in that YT video between the Mono and Stereo versions ... I don't think I'd heard the stereo version before.

Aren't those high notes on "Oh Little Boy" actually sung by Liz Lands?

Liz Lands, gosh I never knew that but it does sound like her. I will have to get my Miss Marple hat on and investigate!

Spot on Roger, it is indeed Liz.  :)

Motown’s best ever B-side, and – even in light of the perfect pop precision of My Guy – quite possibly Mary Wells’ best ever record. A genuine masterpiece, and a fitting end…
