Great photo John..new to me.
I wonder if that was taken during the  recording of "Do right Baby do right"?

Has it been established if The Lewis Sisters have enough in the can to warrant a CD?

Yes Larry,

This little lot although I haven't updated the list in some time as some of their vaulted material has been released on the "Motown Unreleased" download series the tracks marked * have definitely been released since I drew up the list initially. Also, our dear old pal Keith told me that the master tape for "Balloons"had been looked for but couldn't be found which is a shame as that track was such a dream when I heard it on an old bootleg tape:-

Balloons
Breakaway*
Can’t Figure It Out
Can’t We Be Strangers Again
Come On Boy
Conscience, I’m Guilty
Don’t Make Me Live Without Your Love*
Happiness Is Guaranteed
He
He’ll Understand
His Eye Is On The Sparrow
Honey Don’t Leave Me
I Believe
I Have Everything But You
I’m Losing You
In Your Heart
Just A Closer Walk With Thee
Many Good Times*
My World Is Crumbling
Near The Cross
Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen
Reach Out
Sea Shell
Steal Away
Sweet Boy
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Tell Me The Rumours Are Wrong
The Lord’s Prayer
They’re Only Words
Three Rooms And Running Water
Two Lovers
Watch It
Watch It Now
Where Were You
Were You There
What Do You Choose
Whisper You Love Me Boy

Thanks Ivor,
didn't realize they cut so many tracks ......Free Lewis Sisters!!

There is a similar photo, clearly the same time, with CC walking down the path outside Hitsville with the sisters.

Ivor,
It could well be. I will try to locate it but it shows CC outside Hitsville, Lewis Sisters in tow.
I looked at the recordings info for "DRBDR" and it would be about right for that session.
Have.we ever been close to a Lewis Sisters CD at all?

I'd love a Lewis Sisters CD but I have a feeling that would be a dream too far!

Funnily enough, I asked Chris Clark about the Lewis Sisters - given that the ladies are named as backing vocalists on one of CC's 45s - and she said the didn't know them (or couldn't remember them - I forget which).

When you started this thread titled "rare photo" I thought you were talking about the lovely image used to head the Lewis Sisters section. This has coins on it, placed by the E-Bay seller to prevent copying, I presume. I know this because I bought the ruddy thing!

That's the photo grape thanks.

It's strange that Chris does not remember the Lewis Sisters , given that she is with them on this photo. As fans we seem to know more of the history than the artists...we 'live' the whole experience of all the artists and recordings...they only are aware of theirinvolvement. Only natural I suppose.

It's very peculiar that Chris doesn't remember the sisters. Remember, the Lewis Sisters had small but important roles in Lady Sings The Blues, a film that Chris was heavily involved with. I wonder if the ladies are not friends for reasons we will never know!
