No problem Paul.  The main point is he won't be releasing the Blackberries' album now but I'm still hopeful some reissue label or other may do although, I guess, the cost of licensing the thing from Universal would a bit of a put-off.

So where did they get the two tracks from that appeared in the "TCMS" series and "Kidnapped" that was on "COM 4"?

I would hazard a guess that the two sides of the proposed single were there due to the fact that they were going to be a single - Kidnapped was mixed for me and supplied by Deke directly to me - as I say it was Deke who intimated that the masters to the album lay in his care - perhaps he was mistaken..

Aha - on looking back through some old research, I found this segment of a Q&A session with Sherlie, taken from "the soul guy" web-site:-

Q:
After leaving Mirwood, you were introduced to the Motown Record Company by Frank Wilson, what were your experiences like there?

A:
Unbelievable! I sang background with my group, the Blackberries, whom I named after Berry Gordy. We not only recorded an album which was never released, but we sang background for every West Coast recording artist for the label. I also wrote songs for and produced albums for The Jackson Five, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Four Tops, Lionel Richie And The Commodores and many others. I also toured and performed onstage with Diana Ross and also with Lionel Richie.
