A couple of years ago, I had high hopes of getting an Yvonne Fair CD released - we even had a suggested title: It Should Have Been Yvonne Fair.
A trawl of the Motown vaults threw up some unreleased (and, in some cases, unfinished) tracks - all of which were fabulous but there weren't enough of them to make a CD collection viable. Several of these have appeared on compilations of unreleased material.
I forget the name of the book but there was a (possibly 2 volume) tome listing released tracks by soul artists. It included some unreleased track titles, too. I copied down these titles by Yvonne Fair:-
FUNKY MONKEY
OH WHAT A GOOD MAN HE IS
I WILL STILL BE AROUND
WHEN THE WORDS FROM YOUR HEART GET CAUGHT
I CAN'T LET HIM GO
DANCING IN THE STREET
YOU
THEN WE CAN TRY AGAIN
They all date from 1968. The Dancing In The Street track ties up with the recently released version by Ivy Jo Hunter.
After It Should Have Been Me and the critical success of her first Motown album, Yvonne (in a Blues & Soul interview) mentioned that a follow-up was in production. It even had a title (A Real Funky Mother Trucker?) and, presumably, Yvonne was working with Norman Whitfield again. Does anyone know what was going to be on this album?
I'd like to try again to get an Yvonne CD considered.
Anyone have any more details that may help me in my quest?
