I think that could be said about a lot of Mr Webb's compositions John, but she does sing it rather well!!

Looking at DFTMC I see that the first version was recorded by James Darren (of "Goodbye Cruel World" infamy).

That's very interesting Roger. Now I actually enjoyed his version as it was more uptempo and much less of a dirge. I also discovered that he did the original version of 'Backstage' covered successfully a few years later by Gene Pitney. Gene's version wins by a country mile.
