UK Tour
« on: February 07, 2020, 11:24:01 am »
According to Graham Betts' fantastic Motown Encyclopedia, "Sisters Love created a considerable stir in the UK, touring with the Jackson 5 in 1973 and receiving rave reviews."

Was anyone lucky enough to see the ladies in action - and can you recall which songs they performed?

Was there a tour programme with information about the group?

I don't think I've ever come across a review (rave or otherwise) for their bit of the show. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find one?

Eric
I saw them in 1973 , at Belle Vue Manchester as support act to The Jackson 5.
The 'venue' was a former Circus Ring( Big Top style) and a strange choice to hold such a concert.
I saw the Sisters Love act but don't remember a great deal about it
As you can imagine, the crowd was quite animated and excitable. I'm sure programmes were available but I dont recall getting on.
My main memory was The J5 promoting "Lookin' through the windows". But as for Sisters Love
.sorry it's a blur.

Thanks, Larry.

My favourite J5 records are Looking Through The Windows and Doctor My Eyes - miles better than those pop songs for kids that made them famous. You picked the best time to see them.

I'm wondering if you have just confessed to being a secret J5 groupie!

Well I bought their albums up to Moving Violation I think...but I was a Motown completist so it was just in keeping with my 'hobby'.
I have since replaced the first 5 albums in a cheap box set on CD.
I do like some tracks..others now seem very pop and I might avoid a few.
Thinking about the show, there was seating in the circus ring and 'box' type areas surrounding the circle big top. I was in one of those 'boxes'.
I'm sure the SL performed "The bigger you love"...possibly Mr Fix it man.

Sisters Love and the J5 seems an odd combination indeed. By '72 J5 were on a decline hit wise, the law of diminishing returns had come into force. However the album 'Lookin' Through the Windows' resulted in them having two consecutive #9 hits in the UK with the title track and 'Doctor My Eyes' which are the only two J5 tracks that I like.

Friday November 10th 1972 saw the Jackson 5 playing Manchester Belle Vue.  The show also featured Orange rainbow and Sisters Love.  The J5 didn't disappoint as they sang their hits and Michael sang his solo hits (and I think Jermaine did too). They were promoting "Looking Through The Windows" which was a highlight of their show.  Sister's Love belted out "Mr Fix It Man" and other songs that I've forgotten, but to be fair everyone was waiting for the J5.

I've still got my programme and my ticket lol cos that's how I am.

What a great memory to have. 'Looking Through The Windows' is one of only three J5 tracks that I like. Sister Love, well I love them :)
