Interview?
« on: November 04, 2019, 06:22:22 am »
I know Rose toured the UK as support to Marvin Gaye. Does anyone know if she was interviewed by anyone from Blues & Soul for the occasion?

Yes Eric, Sharon Davis in her "Motown Magic" column. Also the magazine had interviewed her earlier in '76 when her glorious album "Rose was released. In one of those two interviews she mentioned that she had recorded a second album for Motown.  I asked UK Motown which was cancelled and they gave me this proposed tracklisting:-

Cloudy With A Chance Of Rain
Ah Shoot
Just Us
It’s True I Do
One-Sided Love Affair
Go Where Your Mind Is
Earth Can Be Just Like Heaven
Paradise

Another CD twofer waiting to be released, I think.

I agree with you there, Ivor.

Interesting to see a track later recorded by Bonnie Pointer in that list.

As regards, "Ah Shoot" Eric, I think the connection is Jeffrey Bowen in that he produced both of Bonnie's albums and Rose's debut album and, no doubt, this second lot of tracks.  Also, he produced Bonnie's cancelled sophomore album which, I believe, was much like the first album unlike the album we ended up with.

Loved her version of the Elgins, "Darling Baby," that intro was bomb.

Thanks for the reminder Spookey. Wasn't there supposed to be a second Motown album?

John,

Those previously unreleased tracks I posted further up in this thread  is the second, but unreleased, album according to UK Motown at the time.
