Liking 'Your Fool Still Loves You' but the other song is a big mess!

I've just bought a copy of the Kent compilation CD "Nothing But A House Party: The Birth Of The Philly Sound 1967-71" and it contains a Van McCoy composition/production by Oscar Weathers called "Your Fool Still Loves You" .... the song was a medium sized R&B hit and reached #37 on Billboard's R&B chart.

It's a very typical Van McCoy ballad, with great vocals from Oscar.
Van did a few other things with Oscar including a curious semi-reggae tune called "I'm Your Good Thing" which reminds me of the kind of thing that King Floyd or R.B. Greaves were doing at the time ... not quite sure what to make of the song and the video on YT is also "strange".

This is interesting about Dionne.
'Warwick ranks among the 40 biggest hit makers between 1955 and 1999, based on her chart history on Billboard's Hot 100 pop singles chart. She is one of the most-charted female vocalists of all time, with 56 of her singles making the Hot 100 between 1962 and 1998 (12 of them Top Ten)'. I thought that Diana would have held the record - I must check.

Two early (1963) Van McCoy tunes from Yvonne Carroll ... seems that "Gee What A Guy" was co-written by Dionne Warwick and became a sizable hit in Los Angeles.

The song "You Never Were My Friend" was written by Mr McCoy's musical partner Charles Kipps ,,, as was David Ruffin's "Walk Away From Love", which it sounds remarkably similar to!!

From 1976 and a lot funkier than most Van McCoy productions here is a ditty from The Choice Four called "Hey, What's That Dance Your Doing" .... also came out as a UK 45 but totally sank without trace!!

The song was an Epic 45 for Brenda & The Tabulations in '72 and even got a UK single release, I presume that to be the original version, it's a tad more "Van McCoy" than the GK&TPs version but still quite atypical of him.

I'm pretty sure I saw the movie " Uptown Saturday night" in the early 70s.
I don't think I ever saw it. According to John Abbey's review of the 45 in "Blues & Soul" the movie was a comedy.

It would be an awful world if we all liked the same things, there would be no innovation and we would all end up listening to the same hundred or so "masterpieces" ... one or two radio stations are a bit like that already ...
