Cass straddles the Sixties and the early Seventies.

She died, after suffering a heart attack in her sleep, a few months before her 33rd birthday, two nights into a concert week at the London Palladium.

Her three best known records, MOVE IN A LITTLE CLOSER BABY, MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC and IT'S GETTING BETTER were all released as 45s in 1969.

Cass had a unique voice - you can tell this even from recorded interviews. I like this one:-

Love her to bits - much better as a solo act than with the Mamas & Papas, IMHO.

I loved Cass Elliot both with the Mama's & Papa's and solo. She was the voice of that group and was just about to make the big time on her own when she died.

Here are two of my special favs. 'California Earthquake' should have been a hit. Cass should also have recorded 'I Had a King' which was written by Joni Mitchell.
