Motown Treasures

I think I've only played side 2 of the Elgins CD once.
It consists of 17 tracks recorded between 1961 -1964.
Now I quite like a lot of "early" Motown, but these tracks rather passed me by.
Whilst in the middle of digging out a lot of "unissued" Motown, I pulled out this CD.
In doing so it struck me that The Downbeats have been overlooked, not in particlular with regard to lots of unissued gems, but in the fact that they were one of the first groups (1961) and Gordy must have had faith in them. Of course, most of these tracks were canned, and eventually The Contours, Satintones, Temptations etc gained reputations in the "story".
But with luck, it may have been The Downbeats to have that 'fame".
I'm now determined to play these tracks and hopefully see them in a better light.
