'A Favour For A Girl(With A Lovesick Heart)' is an early Brenda written by Clarence Paul-Billie-Jean Brown and was originally meant for Mary Wells.

And it looks like Brenda did two leads...

I'd be intrigued to know when this was recorded - DFTMC just has 1964 for the date, whilst TCMS states that is was recorded "on her first visit to Hitsville". I'm guessing this must have been quite early on in 1964, presumably soon after she was signed to Motown (Nov or Dec 1963?) - does anyone have more info on this?

My records (ha--no pun intended) show the following details:

Produced by Clarence Paul. Track recorded March 3, 1964, assigned to Mary Wells. Brenda Holloway lead vocal recorded by April 23, 1964.

Maybe that timeline aligns with Brenda's first visit to Hitsville? DFTMC also mentions that BH's lead was an overdub on Mary Wells, so... maybe there's also a version by Mary Wells buried somewhere in the vaults?

following on from my earlier post, I wonder if you can help me a little further, Dan (or anyone else) with the early Brenda timeline.

I'm assuming she was signed to motown sometime in the Fall of 1963. Is it then right to assume that the first two tracks she recorded for motown were 'each little teardrop' and 'deep freeze', which both appeared on the digital 'unreleased 1963' collection? But can someone shed any more light on when these two were recorded, as DFTMC gives the date for ELT as "by 14th Feb 1964" (even though it gives a Jobete publishing date of 29th Nov 1963), and DF as "by 17th Feb 1964" - if this is the case, why were they included in the 1963 unreleased collection?

Any ideas/firmer dates, anyone?
